10 WHOLE years of marriage! How crazy and wonderful is that?!
It’s become tradition for A.W. and I to celebrate each anniversary with traditional anniversary gifts. For year 10, traditional gifts of aluminum/tin are exchanged (the modern gift being diamonds). This year we exchanged electronics (due to them largely containing aluminum). A.W. even tacked on an additional modern anniversary gift of a diamond ring 🥰
To celebrate our love and 10 years of marriage, we thought long and hard about how we wanted to spend it. Should we embark on an adventure to far-off and fancy international places? Or should we stay local and vacation more luxuriously than we normally would? Although international travel can be equally as wonderful, we chose to vacation (somewhat) locally at our favorite place, California’s Central Coast.
We kicked off our anniversary trip in San Luis Obispo, remaining largely at Avila Beach, bouncing back and forth between the two cities. If you know me, I love a good plan. Because I love details, I naturally love planning our getaways and it was no different for this trip. Typically, I make reservations for a few things and leave open time slots for spontaneity (I am aware of how odd that sounds lol 🙈). THEN, for those open time slots, I research nearby places, hours of operation, et cetera so we can choose to do whatever we want or nothing at all.
I spent SO much time researching various Central Coast establishments and local weather, scouring the internet for the right anniversary dress, and reviewing how to use my Super 8 in preparation. For this particular trip, I made a dinner reservation for our anniversary at Nate’s on Marsh. It was AMAZING and the complimentary champagne we were offered was lovely. I booked a massage at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort & Spa and enjoyed the complimentary hillside hot tub soak beforehand. Lastly, I wanted an “X” tattoo on my foot to commemorate 10 years, so I booked an appointment at Traditional Tattoo with Bhava (who is great)!
Other noteworthy places we visited included:
• Finca
• Field Day Coffee
• Lincoln Market & Deli
• Mule Bakery + Cafe
• Neighbors General Store
• Lokum
• Nite Creamery
• Mersea’s
• Ascendo Coffee
I’ve included an interactive Google Map below that I created to help us choose during those unplanned moments. If you find yourself on the Central Coast, use this map!
